Rahul Gandhi Accuses Defence Minister Rajnath Singh of Lying About Agniveer Compensation

New Delhi [India], July 3: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused Defence Minister Rajnath Singh of lying in Parliament about the compensation given to families of Agniveers who died in service. Gandhi demanded an apology from Singh.

Rahul Gandhi’s Statement

In a video message, Gandhi said that Singh had lied about the compensation issue. He shared a video of Ajay Singh’s father, who claimed his family had not received the promised Rs 1 crore. Gandhi emphasized the importance of truth and urged people to listen to the families of Agniveers.

Ajay Singh’s Father’s Statement

Ajay Singh’s father stated, “Rajnath Singh made the statement that families of killed soldiers have been given Rs 1 crore compensation but no such assistance had been received by his family. Rahul Gandhi is raising our voice in Parliament that families of martyrs must get all necessary help. Agniveer recruitment must stop and regular recruitment should be reinstated.”

Rajnath Singh’s Response

On June 1, Rajnath Singh objected to Gandhi’s remarks in Parliament, stating that financial assistance of Rs 1 crore is given to the family of an Agniveer who sacrifices his life. Singh accused Gandhi of misleading the House with incorrect statements.

Gandhi’s Criticism of Agniveer Scheme

Gandhi criticized the Agniveer scheme, stating that Agniveers are not called ‘jawans’ and do not receive pensions. He highlighted the disparity in training and benefits between Agniveers and regular soldiers.
