Rahul Dravid Talks About Travis Head’s Knock and Indian Cricket Success at CEAT Awards
Former Indian head coach and skipper Rahul Dravid shared his thoughts on Australian batter Travis Head’s crucial performance against India in the ICC Cricket World Cup final last year. Speaking at the CEAT Cricket Awards, Dravid highlighted how the Indian bowlers managed to beat Head’s bat multiple times without success, emphasizing the role of luck in cricket.
Dravid said, “I remember whatever it was, we beat Travis Head’s bat 15 times — he did not touch a single ball. You know, things can go your way sometimes, but you have to stick to the process.” He also praised the current generation of Indian players for continuing the legacy of past stars and achieving significant success across all formats.
“I left in 2011-2012. These players have been able to carry the legacy forward. If you just look at the success that we have had over the last 12 years in all the three formats of the game, the time that after we left, it has been absolutely phenomenal,” Dravid added.
The 26th edition of the CEAT Cricket Awards honored several cricketers and sports leaders. Phil Salt was named Men’s T20I Batter of the Year, Tim Southee earned Men’s T20I Bowler of the Year, and Shreyas Iyer received the Award for Outstanding Leadership. Other notable winners included Virat Kohli, Mohammad Shami, Harmanpreet Kaur, Yashashvi Jaiswal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Deepti Sharma, Smriti Mandhana, and Shafali Verma. Jay Shah was recognized for Excellence in Sports Administration, and Rahul Dravid was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
