Raghav Chadha Announces AAP to Contest Delhi Elections Independently

AAP to Contest Delhi Elections Alone

New Delhi, India – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament Raghav Chadha announced that AAP plans to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly Election independently. This decision follows the Congress party’s poor performance in the Haryana Assembly Election, where they lost to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which won 48 seats.

Raghav Chadha’s Statement

When asked about a potential alliance with Congress for the Delhi elections, Chadha stated, “AAP is fully capable of defeating BJP on its own strength in Delhi. I don’t think the Aam Aadmi Party needs any support or a partner in Delhi.” He categorized elections in India into two types: those where regional parties can defeat BJP independently, like AAP in Delhi, and those where Congress struggles against BJP without alliance support.

AAP’s Track Record

Chadha emphasized AAP’s capability to win independently, citing their success in forming the government in Delhi three times consecutively, with significant victories in 2015 and 2020 under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership.

Priyanka Kakkar’s Remarks

AAP National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar echoed Chadha’s sentiments, stating, “We will contest the Delhi Assembly elections alone. On one side, there is the overconfident Congress, and on the other, the arrogant Bharatiya Janata Party. We will keep our heads down and let the work done over the last 10 years speak for itself.”

The Delhi Assembly elections are anticipated to take place in early 2025. In the 2020 elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP secured eight seats.
