Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz Reach Quarter-Finals at Paris Olympics
Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz from Spain won against the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof 6-4, 6-7(2), 10-2 to reach the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles tennis event at the Paris Olympics.
The Spaniards dominated the first set, winning 6-4. However, the Dutchmen fought back in the second set, winning 6-7(2) in a tiebreaker. Nadal and Alcaraz sealed the third set 10-2 to confirm their place in the quarterfinals.
Earlier, Nadal and Alcaraz defeated Argentina’s Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni 7-6(7:4), 6-4. Despite an early lead by the Argentine duo, the Spaniards recovered and won the match. With 26 singles Grand Slams between them, Nadal and Alcaraz are favorites in the men’s doubles event.
