Qutub Minar Shines with Colombia’s Flag for Independence Day Celebration
New Delhi, India – On July 21, Qutub Minar was beautifully lit up in the colors of Colombia’s national flag to celebrate the South American country’s Independence Day. This special event was organized by the Colombian Embassy in India, which expressed its gratitude to India’s Ministry of Culture and the Archaeological Survey of India for this honor.
In a post on X, the Colombian Embassy in India shared, “The emblematic #QutubMinar, a UNESCO Heritage Site in the city of New Delhi, was illuminated with the colors of the Colombian flag and the green of our biodiversity. Our special gratitude to the @MinOfCultureGoI and @ASIGoI for this heartfelt honour.”
The celebration in Delhi was attended by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, who was the chief guest at the event marking Colombia’s 214th Independence Day. The Colombian Embassy expressed its appreciation for his presence, stating, “It was an honour to have Minister of State H.E. @PmargheritaBJP as Chief Guest at the celebration of the 214th Independence of the Republic of Colombia in New Delhi. We expressed our willingness to continue fostering a long-standing relation and cooperation between our countries.”
In another post, the Embassy highlighted the cultural festivities, saying, “The #CountryOfBeauty celebrated its 214th Anniversary of Independence in the city of New Delhi with the best of our cultural heritage, music and gastronomy. Our gratitude to all the Colombian community living in India and good friends for joining us in this special commemoration.”
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also extended his wishes to Colombian counterpart Luis Gilberto Murillo and the people of Colombia, stating, “Warm greetings to FM @LuisGMurillo and the Government and people of Colombia on their Independence Day.”
India and Colombia share friendly and cordial bilateral relations, which have strengthened and diversified over the years in various sectors, including political, commercial, and cultural areas. In 2019, the two countries celebrated 60 years of diplomatic ties.
