Quick-Thinking Train Driver Stops Train in Kanpur to Avoid Accident
A major tragedy was averted in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, when a train driver spotted a 5-litre empty gas cylinder on the railway track near Prempur railway station early in the morning. The driver promptly applied the emergency brakes, stopping the goods train and preventing a potential accident.
The incident occurred at around 5:50 am, and officials from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) quickly arrived at the scene to investigate. The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Central Railway confirmed that the cylinder was empty and had been removed from the tracks.
This incident follows a similar event on September 15, when a damaged gas cylinder was found near the tracks in Kanpur, causing the Kalindi Express to halt. In response, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed police officials to increase vigilance and take strict action against those attempting to sabotage railway tracks.
