Quick-Thinking Train Driver Stops Disaster in Uttarakhand

A potential disaster was averted by the quick action of the driver of the Naini Jan Shatabdi train. The driver noticed a 6-meter-long electric pole on the tracks between Bilaspur Road and Rudrapur City in Uttarakhand and brought the train to a stop.

According to Indian Railway officials, the loco pilot of train number 12091 reported the iron pole on the track, halted the train, and resumed the journey after the track was cleared.

Authorities Respond

Ashutosh Shukla, Superintendent of Police (SP), Railway, stated that the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Rampur received a memo about the pole. The loco pilot applied emergency brakes and stopped the train. The pole was removed, and the authorities were informed.

Officers from the GRP, Railway Police Force (RPF), and district police examined the spot where the pole was found. The area had bushes on one side and forest on the other, and the pole was hidden there before being dragged onto the tracks.

Investigation Underway

The SP confirmed that no other train operations were impacted by the incident. The train crossed Kathgodam around 9:38 PM and reached the area around 10:05 PM, so the pole was pushed onto the track within a 15-20 minute window.

A case has been registered at Rampur Police Station, and the investigation is ongoing.
