The Quad nations, comprising India, the US, Australia, and Japan, have announced the continuation of the Quad Cyber Challenge. This initiative aims to enhance responsible cyber ecosystems, promote public resources, and increase cybersecurity awareness. The theme for this year’s challenge is focused on cybersecurity education and workforce development.

Events and Discussions

Earlier in 2023, the Quad launched the Quad Cyber Challenge to improve cybersecurity across their countries. On October 10, the US hosted an event at the White House, attended by officials from the Quad nations. Anne Neuberger, the US National Security Council’s Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology, and Cindy Marten, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Education, emphasized the importance of developing youth talent in cybersecurity.

Students and educators participated in the event, hearing from cybersecurity professionals about their career journeys. The event also featured recipients of the Presidential Cyber Educator Award and students from related programs.

International Contributions

Japan’s National Center of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC) shared video messages from three cybersecurity professionals, highlighting the significance of cybersecurity careers. Later this month, Australia will host a Quad Cyber Challenge event in Canberra, focusing on educating senior female high school students about cyber careers.

In India, the National Cyber Security Coordinator will deliver a message on “Cyber Swachhta Abhiyaan,” promoting cyber hygiene during Cyber Security Awareness month. Workshops will be conducted to encourage students and faculty to adopt cyber hygiene practices and consider cybersecurity careers.

The Quad is committed to making a positive impact across the Indo-Pacific region. The US Department of State expressed gratitude to students and educators supporting the Quad Cyber Challenge, fostering the next generation of cybersecurity specialists.
