Qatar Condemns Killing of Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran

Qatar strongly condemned the killing of Hamas Political Bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed in an attack in Iran’s capital, Tehran. Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s president.

The Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs described this killing as a ‘heinous crime’ and a violation of international and humanitarian law. The Ministry stated that such actions could lead the region into chaos and undermine the chances of peace.

Qatar reiterated its firm stance against violence, terrorism, and criminal acts, expressing condolences to Haniyeh’s family, his companion, and the State of Palestine and its people.

Other nations, including Turkiye, Iran, and Pakistan, also condemned the killing. Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, ‘We extend our condolences to his family and the people of Palestine.’ The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the assassination and accused the Israeli government of lacking the intention to achieve peace, stating that the attack aimed to spread war in Gaza to a regional level. Turkiye pledged to continue supporting the Palestinian cause.
