The Puri district administration has announced that all valuables and ornaments from the inner chambers of the Ratna Bhandar at Shri Jagannath Temple will be moved to a temporary storage as per government SOPs.

Details of the Transfer

Puri Collector and District Magistrate Siddharth Shankar Swain stated that a team of 11 members will enter the inner chambers of the Ratna Bhandar between 9:51 am and 12:15 pm to handle the transfer. This team will be responsible for inventorying the valuables and ensuring their safe transfer.

Reopening After Four Decades

The inner Ratna Bhandar was reopened after over four decades on July 14. Justice Biswanath Rath, Inspection Committee Chairman, mentioned that the outer chamber was opened first, and the inner chamber will be accessed after 5-6 days for a detailed inventory.

Security Measures

Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannatha Temple Office, Arabinda Kumar Padhee, confirmed that all valuables from the outer chamber were moved to a temporary strong room. The process includes breaking the lock of the inner chamber and recording the inventory for internal records.
