Punjab Travel Agent Dharampreet Singh Arrested for Fake Visa Scam at IGI Airport
A Punjab-based travel agent, Dharampreet Singh, was arrested by the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport Police for arranging a fake Guatemala visa for a passenger named Gurjas Singh.

Gurjas Singh, who had arrived at IGI airport on July 23 as a deportee from the Netherlands, was refused boarding for Canada. During document scrutiny, it was found that he had a fake visa affixed to his passport. An FIR has been filed against him.
Background
Gurjas Singh, who had only studied until Class 10, wanted to go abroad for a better livelihood. He came into contact with Dharampreet, his distant relative, who, along with his partner Sunny Mann, suggested creating a strong travel history and promised to send him to the USA for Rs 5 lakh. Gurjas traveled to Dubai and Malaysia based on his visa. In Malaysia, another agent, Pawan, arranged a fake Guatemala visa for him.
Further Developments
Gurjas suspected the visa was fake and contacted Dharampreet, who then took him to another agent, Karan Kapoor, who arranged a visa for Canada for Rs 5 lakh. However, while traveling to Canada via the Netherlands, the fake visa was detected, and Gurjas was deported back to Delhi and handed over to the police.
Police Action
Several raids were conducted to find Dharampreet and Sunny Mann, who initially escaped. Assistant Training Officer Inspector Rajkumar Yadav and his team eventually nabbed Dharampreet in Punjab. The investigation is ongoing to uncover other agents’ involvement and scrutinize bank accounts.
