On June 19, Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) achieved its highest-ever power demand of 16,078 MW, surpassing last year’s 15,325 MW. Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh announced that no power cuts have been imposed, and an 8-hour daily uninterrupted power supply is being provided to agriculture feeders for paddy crop sowing.

During a meeting, Harbhajan Singh highlighted that 6,954 out of 13,340 11 kV feeders supply power to around 14 lakh tubewell connections. The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has taken steps to ensure uninterrupted power, including infrastructure upgrades and adequate power availability.

Key officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Power Tejveer Singh and PSPCL CMD Er Baldev Singh Sran, attended the meeting. PSPCL has implemented measures like mobile transformers, material stores, complaint centers, and extensive maintenance to meet the summer’s power demand. As a result, no crop fire incidents due to electric sparks were reported this year.

The Power Minister directed PSPCL to avoid power cuts during the summer and expressed satisfaction with the preparations. The government is confident in providing uninterrupted power supply during the summer season.
