In a significant move against drug trafficking, Punjab Police, following the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, have seized over Rs 1.07 crore in drug money. The operation, led by Counter Intelligence Amritsar, resulted in the arrest of two operatives connected to foreign-based drug smugglers Gurjant Singh alias Bholu and Kinderbir Singh alias Sunny Dyal.

Details of the Arrest

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, announced the arrest of Dilbag Singh from Lohka village and Kamaldeep Singh from Patti, both in Tarn Taran. The police also recovered a money counting machine, two mobile phones, and a Maruti Swift car from the suspects.

Intelligence-Based Operation

The operation was based on intelligence inputs indicating that Gurjant Bholu and Sunny Dyal were running an organized crime syndicate involved in drug trafficking and illegal weapons distribution. The arrested operatives were tasked with collecting drug money and sending it through the Hawala route.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Dilbag Singh and Kamaldeep Singh were in constant contact with the smugglers via encrypted social media platforms. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover more details about the network.

Legal Proceedings

A case has been registered under various sections of the NDPS Act, Arms Act, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar. The accused will be presented in court for police remand.
