On Monday, Punjab Police launched an internal reforms project in collaboration with the Indian Police Foundation (IPF), making Punjab the first state to introduce such an initiative. The project initially covers SAS Nagar and Roopnagar districts, with plans to expand statewide and to Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh.

Project Goals

The initiative aims to enhance complaint registration, improve police response and behavior, minimize harassment, and promote citizen services and community engagement.

Inauguration

The project was formally inaugurated by Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) for Community Affairs, Gurpreet Kaur Deo, under the guidance of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, at the Punjab Police Officer’s Institute (PPOI).

Special DGP Deo expressed full support for the IPF, emphasizing Punjab Police’s commitment to internal reforms for delivering top-quality policing services. She highlighted the SAANJH project, which allows citizens to access services like police verification and reporting lost mobile phones online or at SAANJH Kendras near police stations.
