Punjab Police Dismantles UK-Based Extortion Syndicate and Local Gangs

The Jalandhar Rural Police have successfully dismantled two criminal gangs, including a UK-based extortion syndicate, arresting 10 criminals and seizing weapons and vehicles. Director General of Police Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, announced the recovery of seven pistols, 18 live cartridges, and 10 magazines. The syndicate operated across borders with key figures in the UK, Greece, and Manila directing crimes in Punjab.

Senior Superintendent of Police Jalandhar Rural, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, detailed the operations. The first breakthrough came when a police team led by SHO Yadwinder Singh intercepted a car, arresting three suspects and recovering weapons. The arrested individuals, Amandeep Singh, Jagwinder Singh, and Jaskaran Singh, revealed their operations were directed by UK-based Jagdeep Singh, with support from Greece-based Paramjit Singh and Manila-based Manjinder Singh.

In a follow-up operation, three more gang members, Ajay Kumar, Vishal, and a juvenile, were arrested with additional weapons. This gang was involved in major criminal incidents, including a shooting targeting a businessman.

In another operation, four members of a different gang were apprehended, revealing their involvement in multiple crimes, including extortion and robbery. The police have registered cases under various sections of the Arms Act and Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.
