Punjab Police Destroys Huge Drug Consignment on World Drug Day

On June 26, the Punjab Police organized a drug disposal program at ten different locations in the state, including Mohali, to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. This day has been observed annually since 1989.

Drug Disposal Program

Led by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the police destroyed a significant amount of drugs at the disposal site in Dera Bassi, Mohali. The destroyed drugs included 83 kg of heroin, 3,557 kg of opium, and 4.5 lakh tablets and pills.

DGP Gaurav Yadav shared on X, “On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse, Punjab Police is organizing a drug disposal program at ten different locations across Punjab.”

Comprehensive Strategy

Following the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Police has adopted a comprehensive strategy of Enforcement, Deaddiction, and Prevention (EDP) to eradicate drugs. The police are also working to control drug supply at the local level by tracing and breaking the drug supply chain.

“Together, let us pledge to fight against drugs with unwavering resolve. Let us protect our youth, our families, and our future. Jai Hind!” the post read.
