Meeting with National Human Rights Commission
Earlier in the day, Punjab Police held a crucial meeting with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to discuss strategies for combating drug abuse in prisons and disrupting supply chains. The official account of DGP Punjab Police stated on X, “Collaborating for a safer Punjab! Met with Special Monitor NHRC, Rakesh Asthana, IPS (Rtd), Senior officers of Punjab & UT Chandigarh Jails, Police, Social Security, Health and other departments to discuss effective strategies for combating drug abuse in prisons & disrupting supply chains. Enforcement Directorate’s Arrest
On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate apprehended an individual in Punjab’s Tarn-Tarn district for laundering money derived from drug trafficking. The arrest was made under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. ED’s Jalandhar-based unit arrested Skattar Singh alias Laddi in continuation of its money laundering probe based on First Information Reports recorded by Punjab Police and Narcotics Control Bureau.
