Punjab Police Capture Highway Robbery Gang Leader

The Punjab police successfully arrested Satpreet Singh, also known as Satti, the leader of a notorious highway robbery gang, following a brief shootout near Lehli village in Mohali district. The arrest was confirmed by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
Details of the Arrest
Satpreet Singh, a resident of Dandrala in SAS Nagar, was found with a .32 calibre pistol and five live cartridges. The police also seized the Platina motorcycle he was using. Satti has a criminal record with multiple cases of snatching and robbery in Punjab and Haryana.
Criminal Activities
The gang primarily targeted vehicles on the Ambala-Dera Bassi highway. They were involved in two recent robberies on November 3 and 10, 2024, where cash, mobile phones, and gold ornaments were stolen at gunpoint in the Lalru area.
Police Operation
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SAS Nagar, Deepak Pareek, shared that the police received credible information about the gang’s activities. A team led by DSP Dera Bassi Bikramjit Singh Brar tracked Satti’s movements. During the chase, Satti fired at the police, hitting their vehicle. In return fire, Satti was injured in the leg.
Ongoing Investigation
The police are continuing their investigation to apprehend Satti’s associates. A case has been registered under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act at Police Station Lalru.
