Punjab Police Busts Heroin Smuggling Operation in Amritsar
The State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar, Punjab, has successfully dismantled a heroin smuggling operation. The police seized 6 kilogrammes of heroin, 67 live cartridges, 2 magazines, and 6 mobile phones. This major breakthrough was announced by DGP Punjab Police Gaurav Yadav.
An FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and investigations are ongoing to catch the accused and understand the network better. DGP Gaurav Yadav emphasized that the Punjab Police is committed to making Punjab drug-free, following the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Earlier this month, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police seized 2.8 kilogrammes of suspected heroin and a motorcycle near Dal village in Tarn Taran district. The BSF troops noticed suspicious activity and, upon investigation, found the heroin and the abandoned motorcycle.
