Punjab Police Arrests Five Members of Lakhbir Landa Gang and Recovers Pistols
In a significant operation, Punjab Police arrested five operatives of the Canada-based Lakhbir Landa gang and recovered five foreign-made pistols. The Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, announced on X that the arrests were made after a 15-day operation. The gang was involved in arms and drug smuggling, murder, extortion, and other criminal activities across multiple districts in Punjab.
Yadav emphasized that Punjab Police is committed to eradicating organized crime in the state, following the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Earlier this month, Punjab Police conducted raids at various hideouts of gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa. Bathinda Superintendent of Police, Narinder Singh, confirmed that five people were rounded up during these operations.
On June 20, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted multi-state searches and arrested Jaspreet Singh, a key operative linked to Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa. The NIA seized a 32-bore revolver, 69 cartridges, 100 gm of heroin, 100 gm of opium, Rs 2,20,500 in cash, and various digital devices from Jaspreet.
In February, Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force arrested three associates of terrorists Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and Lakhbir Singh alias Landa Harike. These arrests were part of the ongoing efforts to eliminate organized crime in Punjab, as directed by the Bhagwant Mann-led government.
