In a significant operation against narcotic networks, Counter Intelligence Jalandhar has arrested Amritpal Singh, also known as Fauji, an army deserter involved in a heroin smuggling racket linked to Pakistan. The arrest was made in Jalandhar, Punjab, and 12.5 kg of heroin was seized from his possession, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.

Amritpal Singh, a resident of village Kasel in Tarn Taran, had been on the run since August 2024 after his accomplice Sartaj was arrested with 33 kg of heroin at Jammu Bus Stand. The cartel is led by Amrit Pal Singh Baath, a notorious gangster operating from Dubai, with multiple cases against him, including two for murder.

Acting on reliable intelligence, Counter Intelligence Jalandhar set up a special checkpoint at the canal bridge of village Kangniwal in Jalandhar, where they arrested Amritpal Singh and recovered 200 grams of heroin. Further investigation led to the discovery of an additional 12.4 kg of heroin at a location between Tarn-Taran and village Jodhpur.

Navjot Singh Mahal, AIG of Counter Intelligence Jalandhar, revealed that Amritpal Singh and his associate had procured 50 kg of heroin from the Akhnoor sector last month. After Sartaj’s arrest, Amritpal Singh hid the remaining heroin.
