Punjab Police Arrests Arms Smugglers and Busts Cross-Border Smuggling Racket

In a significant operation, the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) of Punjab Police has arrested a person involved in an inter-state arms smuggling racket. The accused was supplying illegal arms from Madhya Pradesh to Punjab, and four illegal .32 pistols were recovered.

SSOC Mohali is working to uncover the entire network, following both forward and backward linkages. Further investigation is underway.

Earlier, on August 14, the Anti Gangster Task Force of Punjab Police arrested five individuals, including mastermind Sunil Bhandari alias Nata, who were wanted for several heinous crimes, including three recent killings in Ferozepur. The gang was apprehended near National Highway Rajpura, and five pistols with 40 live cartridges and two vehicles were recovered.

On August 13, SSOC Amritsar busted a cross-border smuggling module, arresting two suspects from Chabal, Tarn Taran. The suspects were found to be receiving illegal weapons sent through drones by a Pakistan-based smuggler. Four pistols and four magazines were recovered, and an FIR has been registered at Police Station SSOC, Amritsar. Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their smuggling activities.
