The Punjab Police, in coordination with Central Agencies and Delhi Police, have arrested Vishal Masih, the second suspect in the Chandigarh Grenade Blast case, within 72 hours.

Details of the Arrest

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav announced the arrest on his X handle (formerly Twitter). Vishal Masih, son of Sabi Masih, was apprehended in Delhi. He is a resident of Raimal village near Dhyanpur PS Kotli Surat Mallian, Batala, District Gurdaspur.

Background of the Incident

On Wednesday evening, two individuals executed a grenade blast in Sector 10, Chandigarh. The incident was treated as a terror crime, prompting swift action from Punjab Police and Central Agencies. One of the accused, Rohan Masih, was arrested on Friday with a weapon and ammunition and is currently on remand with the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar.

Role of Happy Passia

The investigation revealed that USA-based gangster Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, provided the accused with explosives, weapons, and logistical support. He was working on behalf of Pak-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Harvinder Singh, alias Rinda, and ISI. However, Happy Passia failed to deliver the promised rewards to the accused after the crime was committed.

Warnings and Further Investigations

DGP Gaurav Yadav warned the youth against deceitful terrorist handlers who exploit vulnerable individuals with false promises. AIG SSOC Amritsar Sukhminder Singh Mann stated that in-depth investigations are ongoing in coordination with Chandigarh Police to uncover the entire conspiracy and local network of Happy Passia. Vishal Masih has been remanded until September 20, 2024.
