Punjab Police Arrest 5 for Crime Syndicate and Seize Weapons in Amritsar

In a significant operation, the Punjab Police have arrested five individuals for running an inter-state organized crime syndicate in Amritsar. The police recovered two pistols and eight live rounds, which were procured from Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.

According to the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, the accused were planning to target a rival gang in Amritsar. They have been booked under the Arms Act and the newly introduced section 111 BNS, which punishes organized crime syndicates.

Punjab Police, under the direction of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is committed to eradicating organized crime in the state. Earlier, the police busted a trans-border narcotic smuggling network and arrested a drug smuggler, Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha, with 5 kg of heroin. The accused was in direct contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler named Ali, and drones were used to transport the drug consignments from Pakistan.

A case has been registered under sections 21C, 23, and 25 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Islamabad in Amritsar.
