Discussion on DAP Fertilizer Supply

In New Delhi, Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, JP Nadda, met with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to address the availability of DAP (Di-ammonium Phosphate) fertilizer for Punjab’s agricultural season. CM Mann emphasized the state’s urgent need for DAP due to the ongoing sowing season.

Understanding the challenges, Mann noted that 70% of DAP is imported, and international issues like the Ukraine conflict have caused shortages. He requested priority allocation for Punjab, as the state’s need is critical until November 15.

JP Nadda assured that the central government is committed to ensuring sufficient DAP supplies for Punjab. He highlighted that arrangements are in place to provide uninterrupted fertilizer availability to Punjab’s farmers. Nadda emphasized the government’s dedication to supporting farmers under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

As of October 1, Punjab had 1 LMT of DAP stock, with an additional 0.71 LMT supplied. Plans are in place to deliver 0.75 LMT more by November 10 to meet peak demand.
