Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], September 12: In a significant move, the Punjab government has transferred 38 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and one Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officer. Vikas Pratap, from the 1994 IAS batch, is now the Additional Chief Secretary, Excise. Rajat Oberoi, a PCS officer, has also been transferred from his previous role as Additional Chief Administrator, Amritsar Development Authority. These changes are effective immediately.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann addressed the youth at an appointment letter distribution ceremony in Chandigarh. He criticized the previous government for neglecting the youth and assured job security under his administration. A total of 293 people received appointment letters for various departments on September 7.

While congratulating the new appointees, CM Mann said, “Congratulations to you and your family. Nothing is impossible in this world. In the past, the youth had given up hope, but now their hopes have been fulfilled. Our government is preparing even bigger chairs for you.” He urged the new officers to avoid taking bribes, emphasizing that the system, although flawed for 75 years, will be gradually improved.

According to the government, out of the 293 appointment letters distributed, 263 were for the health department, 9 for technical education, and 21 for the water supply department.
