Punjab and Assam Police Team Up to Bust Cyber Fraud Gang, Recover Rs 5.25 Crore

In a significant move against cybercrime, Punjab Police, in collaboration with Assam Police, arrested two individuals from Guwahati. The operation resulted in the recovery of Rs 5.25 crore, ATM cards, and mobile phones. This is the largest-ever recovery in India according to I4C data.

Commendable Police Work

Punjab Police Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, praised the Ludhiana Police for their excellent work in cracking the inter-state cyber fraud gang. He mentioned that seven more individuals have been nominated in the case. The Cybercrime team of Ludhiana Commissionerate has been awarded the Director General’s Commendation Disc for their dedication to public safety.

Support from Assam Police

DGP Gaurav Yadav also thanked the Assam Police for their support in the operation. He stated that Punjab Police is working tirelessly to combat new-age crimes and ensure the safety of citizens, following the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Importance of Cyber Security

Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the importance of cyber security for national development. Speaking at the first Foundation Day program of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), he emphasized that cyber security is crucial for national security. I4C, established in 2015 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Safe Cyber Space’ campaign, aims to become a strong pillar of a cyber-secured India.
