Pune’s ThermoVerita Sealed Over Tax Default
Linked to IAS Officer Puja Khedkar’s Mother
The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in Pune has sealed a company named ThermoVerita, which is linked to Manorama Khedkar, the mother of IAS officer Puja Khedkar. This action was taken due to an alleged tax default of Rs 2.77 lakh.
Shekhar Singh, Commissioner of PCMC, stated, “The property tax for 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 for Thermoverita India Pvt. Ltd has been pending for the last two years. Additionally, the current year’s outstanding dues are also unpaid.”
He added that the total outstanding amount for the last two years is Rs 1.96 lakh, and including the current year’s dues, the total comes to Rs 2.77 lakh. The PCMC initially issued notices and disconnected the water supply before sealing the property.
Controversy Surrounding IAS Officer Puja Khedkar
IAS probationer Puja Khedkar is under investigation for allegedly faking her identity to fraudulently avail attempts beyond the permissible limit for the Civil Service Examination. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against her and issued a show cause notice for the potential cancellation of her selection and debarment from future examinations.
The UPSC revealed that Khedkar fraudulently availed attempts beyond the permissible limit by changing her name, her parents’ names, her photograph or signature, her email ID, mobile number, and address.
