In a major crackdown, Pune Police raided and sealed the popular Liquid Leisure Lounge (L3) for allegedly serving drugs to minors. The raid led to the suspension of four police officials for dereliction of duty.

Details of the Raid

The operation was conducted after a video surfaced showing underage boys consuming drugs in the bar’s washroom during a late-night party. Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar ordered an immediate probe, leading to a late-night raid on the establishment.

Arrests Made

Eight people, including the bar owner Santosh Kamthe, franchisee Ravi Maheshwari, manager Manas Malik, two staffers, and three others, were arrested. They were produced before a Pune Magistrate court and sent to police custody till June 29.

Suspension of Police Officials

Four police officials, including an Assistant Police Inspector, a Police Inspector, and two constables, were suspended for allegedly ignoring the illegal activities at the bar.

Statements from Authorities

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill stated that the bar allowed entry through the backdoor after officially closing at 1.30 am and continued hosting parties until dawn. He added that investigations are ongoing to determine if any narcotic substances were consumed during the party.

Public Reaction

The incident has sparked outrage among Pune residents, with many demanding stricter enforcement of laws to prevent such incidents. A local right-wing group, Patit Paawan, also vandalized the exterior of the bar.

The police have assured that they will continue to crack down on establishments engaging in illegal activities to ensure the safety and well-being of minors in the city.
