Pune Police Crack Gangrape Case
Arrest Made, Search Continues for Two Suspects
In Pune, Maharashtra, the police have made significant progress in solving a gangrape case reported at Kondhwa Police Station. One suspect has been arrested, and efforts are underway to locate two more, according to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. The announcement was made during an event attended by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Last week, the police released sketches of two suspects involved in the alleged gangrape of a 21-year-old woman in the Bopdev Ghat area on the night of October 3. The incident occurred when the victim visited the ghat with a friend and was allegedly attacked by three unknown individuals around 11 pm. The crime was reported to the police at approximately 5 am the following day. Ten teams from the Crime Branch and Detective Branch have been formed to apprehend the suspects, as stated by Pune Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma.
Following the incident, Supriya Sule, NCP-SCP working president, expressed outrage and questioned the safety of women in Pune and Maharashtra. She criticized the state home department for its inaction and called for the arrest and strict punishment of the perpetrators.
