Pune Court Denies Bail to Six in Porsche Crash Blood Sample Tampering Case

A Pune court has rejected the bail applications of six individuals accused of tampering with blood samples in the Porsche car crash case. The crash, which took place on May 19, involved a minor driving under the influence, resulting in the deaths of two IT professionals in the Kalyani Nagar area of Pune.

Special Public Prosecutor Advocate Shishir Hiray stated, “Bail application of 6 accused persons who are behind bar in Porsche case is rejected. We have put the case before the court on the basis of the prima facie evidence available with us and collected by the prosecution agency…Chargesheet is already filed.”

The accused were arrested by the Pune Crime Branch for allegedly conspiring to tamper with evidence and manipulate the blood sample of the minor involved in the crash. The case has led to a nationwide uproar, especially after the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) granted bail to the minor on lenient terms, including writing a 300-word essay on road safety.

The Women and Child Development Department has formed a panel to investigate the conduct of JJB members in granting bail to minors. The Pune police have filed a 900-page chargesheet against the seven accused, including the parents of the juvenile. The case against the main accused, a minor, is ongoing before the Juvenile Justice Board.
