Puja Khedkar’s Mother in Trouble: FIR Filed for Threatening Farmer

Puja Khedkar, a probationary IAS officer

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], July 13: A day after the central government formed a panel to investigate trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar, an FIR has been registered against her mother, Manorama Khedkar, for allegedly threatening a farmer with a pistol. The police reported this incident on Saturday.

The FIR was filed at Paud police station in Pune based on the farmer’s complaint. The farmer claimed that Manorama Khedkar threatened him with a pistol in a video that went viral a year ago. The police have also included charges under the Arms Act.

The central government has set up a single-member committee to verify the claims and details of Puja Khedkar’s candidature. This committee, chaired by a senior officer of the rank of Additional Secretary, will submit its report in two weeks.

Puja Khedkar, a 2023 batch IAS officer from Maharashtra, secured an All India Rank of 841 in the UPSC exam. She recently sparked controversy by using a private car with a red-blue beacon light and demanding facilities not available to probationary officers. She was also accused of submitting fake disability and OBC certificates to clear the civil services exam.

The Pune Municipal Corporation is likely to take action against illegal encroachment near Puja Khedkar’s family bungalow, with bulldozers seen on standby.
