PTI Seeks Permission for Rawalpindi Rally, Plans Mianwali Gathering

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has approached the deputy commissioner’s office in Rawalpindi to seek permission for a public rally on September 28. PTI leaders Ghulam Husnain, Owais Younis, and Nabeel Satti filed the application, requesting to hold the rally at Liaquat Bagh or Bhatta Chowk.

PTI, founded by Imran Khan, emphasized that Pakistan’s constitution allows political activities and urged the deputy commissioner to release a No Objection Certificate (NoC) for the event. The request has been received by the Rawalpindi DC.

In a video message, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced that PTI will hold a public gathering in Mianwali on September 29. Gandapur stated, “I will come and hold a gathering in Mianwali, followed by another show of power in Pindi and other cities.” He criticized the ruling parties for their “unconstitutional activities” and expressed support for Imran Khan, who has been in prison for 414 days.

On September 21, PTI held a rally in Lahore, which was abruptly stopped before many top leaders could speak. The rally ended when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur did not arrive before the 6 pm deadline set by city officials in the NoC. Lahore police took control of the stage, turning off the microphone and lights, forcing PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and other leaders to leave.

Except for Gohar and Salman Akram Raja, PTI’s first-tier leadership did not address the rally participants. Gandapur and Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, who were leading convoys from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, did not arrive at the venue by the end of the deadline.
