PTI Postpones Lahore Rally, New Date to be Announced After Islamabad Meeting

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called off its planned rally in Lahore, which was scheduled for August 27. The announcement was made by PTI’s Secretary of Information for Punjab, Shaukat Mahmood Basra, who stated that a new date for the Lahore rally will be announced after their public meeting in Islamabad on September 8.

Earlier, PTI had planned to hold a rally in Islamabad’s Tarnol despite the local administration revoking the no objection certificate (NOC) and closing roads leading to the federal capital. However, the rally was rescheduled for September 8 following directives from PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.

In a recent audio statement, Aleema Khan, sister of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, criticized the PTI leadership for not having any real intention of getting Imran Khan out of prison. She expressed frustration over the rally’s postponement and questioned the actions of senior PTI leader Azam Swati.

Meanwhile, the federal government’s spokesperson on legal affairs, Barrister Aqeel Malik, stated that the Centre had approached Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur regarding the cancellation of the public gathering. He also mentioned that PTI was granted conditional permission for a rally on September 8.
