PTI Activist Sanam Javed Arrested Again After Court Release

Sanam Javed, a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist, was re-arrested by Islamabad Police shortly after being released by a Sessions Court. Initially detained by the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) for allegedly encouraging people to gather at the Corps Commander House via a tweet, she was acquitted in that case. However, following her release, she was taken into custody again in connection with another case.

Details of the Arrest

Sanam Javed was first arrested by the FIA in Gujranwala under cybercrime laws for a tweet on May 9. The tweet reportedly encouraged people to go to the Corps Commander House. On Sunday, a Sessions Court ordered her release, with Magistrate Malik Imran accepting her lawyer Ali Ashfaq’s plea for discharge from the case.

Immediate Re-Arrest

Despite the court’s decision, Islamabad Police arrested Javed again in another case. Her lawyer, Ali Ashfaq, stated, “We handed over Sanam Javed to the police without resistance. This is how law-abiding people should behave, as we did.”
