Protests in Punjab: Supporters Demand Release of Imran Khan

Supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged protests across Punjab, demanding the release of their leader, Imran Khan, despite a ban on rallies. Authorities conducted raids on PTI leaders’ homes, leading to arrests and property damage. PTI leaders criticized the government’s actions as unconstitutional and suppressive. Protests Across Punjab

PTI supporters gathered in various cities, including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, and Okara, waving flags and chanting slogans for Imran Khan’s freedom. In Lahore, rallies were held in constituencies such as PP-163, PP-174, and NA-129.

Raids and Arrests

Authorities conducted raids on PTI leaders’ homes and offices, causing property damage. Several PTI workers were arrested, including Chaudhry Mubeen in Lahore and others in Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, and Okara.

Government’s Stance

Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal stated that the ban on rallies was due to security concerns and the risk of terrorist attacks. However, PTI leaders condemned the ban as an attempt to sabotage their protests and called for judicial scrutiny.

PTI’s Response

PTI leaders accused the government of creating a lawless environment and suppressing democratic rights. The central information secretary, Raoof Hasan, criticized the administration’s actions as shameful.
