Protests in Kech, Balochistan Against Forced Evictions by Pakistani Forces

The indigenous Baloch people of Meher in the Mand area of Kech, located in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, have staged a protest. They blocked the main road to oppose forced evictions from their homes by the Armed Forces, particularly the Frontier Corps. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee reported that the Pakistani forces have demanded the locals vacate their homes to make way for a new military camp.

Residents claim this is not the first time such actions have occurred, as previous occupations have displaced families from their ancestral lands. The people of Meher are determined to resist and refuse to leave their homes or allow new camps to be built, as these actions threaten their security, property, and way of life.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee stands in solidarity with the Meher residents, urging the Baloch nation to unite against these practices. They argue that occupying native lands under the guise of security is common in Balochistan, leading to many becoming displaced or refugees. The Committee calls on the global community and Human Rights Organizations to address the militarization and human rights abuses in the region.

Concerns Over Human Rights Violations

Mahrang Baloch, a prominent human rights activist, expressed concern over an explosion near a school in Mastung and the forced disappearance of ten Baloch students from Islamabad. She highlighted the ongoing hardships faced by the Baloch community, describing the state as having turned Balochistan into a “slaughterhouse.”

These incidents underscore the severe oppression and brutality faced by the Baloch people, reflecting broader human rights violations and the ongoing Baloch genocide.
