Protests in Kargil Over Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah’s Death in Israeli Airstrike
On Sunday, the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) organized a protest march in Kargil, Ladakh, against the killing of top Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Israeli airstrikes. Members of IKMT held banners and raised slogans in support of Nasrallah, criticizing Israel for its actions in Gaza and Lebanon amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, Lebanon. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed his death, stating, “Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world.” The ongoing conflict in Gaza has intensified, with repeated strikes between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah, raising concerns and calls for a ceasefire.
Nasrallah’s death has sparked political reactions, with People’s Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti canceling her election campaign in Jammu and Kashmir in solidarity with the martyrs of Lebanon and Gaza. She expressed her support for the people of Palestine and Lebanon in a post on X.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized Mufti for her stance, accusing her of supporting terrorists. Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur and BJP leaders Kavinder Gupta and Altaf Thakur condemned her actions, calling them an election stunt and questioning her silence on the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.
Hezbollah officially acknowledged Nasrallah’s death and vowed to continue its fight against Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran’s Ayatollah regime that those who target Israel will face consequences, asserting that no location in Iran or the Middle East is beyond Israel’s reach.
