Violence in Gujrat

In Gujrat, violence escalated, resulting in the death of a security guard and injuries to students. Protesters attacked campuses, causing significant damage. Police registered a murder case against 185 individuals, including 35 identified suspects. A student was critically injured in a collision while fleeing police.

Widespread Protests

Protests spread to other towns, including Lalamusa, Kharian, and Jalalpur Jattan, where campuses were damaged and valuables stolen. Police arrested 92 people linked to the protests. A senior official suggested the protests were politically motivated.

Response and Closure

In response, Gujrat Deputy Commissioner ordered the closure of all colleges in the district until October 19. PGC suspended academic activities across its campuses. Protests also occurred in Faisalabad, Samundri, Shorkot, and Jhang, with students demanding accountability and blocking roads.
