Protest by Guest Teachers in Bhopal Leads to Legal Action
In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, a protest by guest teachers led to legal action as they marched without permission. The protest aimed to demand regularization of their jobs and started from Ambedkar Park, heading towards the Chief Minister’s House. However, police stopped them at the Second stop area using barricades.
Despite being advised to disperse, the teachers attempted to break through the barricades. Consequently, a case was registered against them under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which addresses disobedience to public servant orders. The case was filed at TT Nagar police station.
Police Statement
Additional Commissioner of Police Chandrashekhar Pandey stated that the protest was unauthorized and the teachers were repeatedly advised to disperse. He emphasized that no force was used against the teachers, respecting their profession.
Individuals Named in the Case
The case includes four named individuals: KC Pawar, state president of the Guest Teachers’ Association; B M Khan, executive president; Mukesh Joshi, vice president; and Santosh Kahar, state secretary. Additionally, around 250 unidentified individuals were also included in the case.
