Protest at Raj Bhawan: Ajay Rai and Congress Leaders Face FIR in Lucknow
The Hazratgant Police in Lucknow have registered an FIR against Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, Ajay Rai, and former state president Ajay Kumar Lallu, along with 100 other unknown individuals. The FIR was filed for creating disruptions near Raj Bhawan in Lucknow.
On August 22, Ajay Rai led a protest outside Raj Bhawan, demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Hindenburg Report on Adani group and Madhabi Puri Buch. The complaint against Rai was filed by Hazratganj sub-inspector, Rahul Singh.
Other Congress leaders named in the FIR include Tanuj Poonia, Congress MP from Barabanki, Dheeraj Gurjar, the party’s national general secretary, Shiv Pandey, the party’s treasurer, and Akhilesh Pratap Singh, a former MLA and spokesperson.
Sub-Inspector Singh reported that around 3 pm on August 22, a crowd of 100 people moved from Raj Bhavan Gate No-1 towards Gate No-2. When police tried to stop them, the crowd pushed the officers, obstructing their work. The protesters then sat down in front of the gates, shouted slogans, and caused significant inconvenience to the public, disrupting traffic and security arrangements.
The protest created an atmosphere of fear and disturbed public order, according to the police sub-inspector.
