Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to Contest Wayanad Bypoll

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a prominent Congress leader, is set to contest the bypoll for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. This decision has sparked criticism from BJP national spokesperson CR Kesavan, who questioned her suitability due to her non-native proficiency in Malayalam and potential absenteeism. Kesavan expressed concerns about her ability to connect with the local population, suggesting that voters might need a translator to communicate with her.

In contrast, Avinash Pandey, in charge of Uttar Pradesh Congress, expressed confidence in Priyanka Gandhi’s candidacy, believing that the people of Wayanad will support her. He highlighted her role as a national leader and her potential to represent Wayanad effectively in Parliament.

The Wayanad seat was previously held by Rahul Gandhi, who vacated it after winning from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh. The bypoll is scheduled for November 13, alongside assembly by-elections in 47 seats across 15 states. If successful, Priyanka Gandhi will join her family members, Rahul and Sonia Gandhi, in the current Parliament.

Rahul Gandhi has expressed confidence in his sister’s victory, emphasizing his continued support for the people of Wayanad. The election results will be announced on November 23.
