In Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Union Minister L Murugan criticized Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra after she filed her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-poll in Kerala. Murugan claimed that Priyanka’s visit was merely a ‘tourist visit’ and expressed confidence that the public would not vote for tourists but for the BJP, which he said is committed to Kerala’s development.

Priyanka Gandhi, making her electoral debut, described the nomination filing as an emotional moment and expressed gratitude for the support shown to her and Rahul Gandhi. She emphasized the strength of Wayanad’s people and their hope for a better future.

Priyanka Gandhi is contesting against BJP’s Navya Haridas, a two-time Kozhikode Corporation councilor, and LDF’s Sathyan Mokeri. The Wayanad seat was vacated by Rahul Gandhi, who retained the Rae Bareli seat. The by-poll is scheduled for November 13, with vote counting on November 23.
