Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and President Murmu Pay Tribute on Kargil Vijay Diwas
On the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi offered tribute to the brave soldiers who fought in the Kargil War. She said, “Kargil Vijay Diwas is that golden page of Indian military history that reminds us of the valour and sacrifice of our brave soldiers.”
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also paid tribute, stating, “On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I pay my heartfelt tribute to the immortal martyrs who sacrificed their all to protect India. The country will always be indebted to them for their supreme sacrifice.”
President Droupadi Murmu hailed the courage and extraordinary valour of the armed forces, urging all countrymen to draw inspiration from their sacrifice. She said, “Kargil Vijay Diwas is an occasion for a grateful nation to pay tribute to the indomitable courage and extraordinary valour of our armed forces.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the soldiers and laid a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial. He also initiated the Shinkun La Tunnel Project virtually.
Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26, commemorates the success of Operation Vijay in 1999, where Indian forces reclaimed strategic positions in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistani soldiers and terrorists.
