Priyanka Gandhi Enters Politics: Contesting from Wayanad

In Chandigarh, Haryana, Congress MP Kumari Selja expressed her joy over Priyanka Gandhi’s decision to enter full-time politics. Gandhi will be contesting the upcoming elections from Wayanad. Selja criticized the BJP, accusing them of communalizing issues when facing electoral challenges. She expressed confidence in Gandhi’s victory, stating, “The country has been waiting for Priyanka to enter full-time politics. We are happy she is contesting from Wayanad.”

Selja also highlighted concerns about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), urging the Election Commission to ensure fair elections. Priyanka Gandhi met with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi to discuss campaign strategies. She will lead a roadshow in Wayanad before filing her nomination on October 23.

The Election Commission announced the bypoll, and Congress declared Gandhi’s candidacy for the Wayanad seat as part of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala. Senior Congress leaders will support her during the nomination filing. The bypoll is scheduled for November 13.

If successful, Priyanka Gandhi will be the third Gandhi family member in Parliament. She is contesting against BJP’s Navya Haridas and LDF’s Sathyan Mokeri. Rahul Gandhi, who vacated the Wayanad seat, expressed confidence in her victory. Priyanka previously managed the Gandhi family’s stronghold in Amethi and Rae Bareli and is now an important strategist for Congress.
