Priyanka Gandhi Criticizes BJP and Remembers Indira Gandhi in Jammu Rally

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir, calling him an outsider ruling by his own will. She addressed a public rally, questioning why the Prime Minister is not acknowledging the truth about statehood and the rights that have been taken away from the people.

Priyanka Gandhi said, “A rule of loot and remote control has been established. Your land is becoming a ‘land bank’ for big industrialists. You are not able to do anything because you do not have your own government.” She added that 200 out of 450 mineral blocks have been given to outsiders, and 65% of government posts are vacant in Jammu and Kashmir.

Recalling her times with former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Priyanka shared a personal story about visiting Kashmir with her grandmother just days before her assassination. She said, “Nature has given you everything, beauty, resources. The nature of the world is that when someone has everything, then the one whose intentions are not right, tries to snatch it.”

The first phase of Assembly polls was held on September 18, the second on September 25, and the final phase is scheduled for October 1. The counting of votes will take place on October 8. These are the first Assembly elections in the Union Territory since the abrogation of Article 370.
