Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a community event in Vienna, Austria, marking his first visit to the country. He thanked Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer for the warm welcome and noted the historic occasion of celebrating 75 years of friendship between India and Austria.

PM Modi expressed his delight at the enthusiastic reception and acknowledged that it was the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Austria in 41 years. He also thanked Labour and Economy Minister Martin Kocher, emphasizing the importance of Indians in Austria.

Despite the geographical distance, PM Modi highlighted the strong connection between India and Austria, noting their shared values of democracy, liberty, equality, and respect for the rule of law. He mentioned that both countries are multicultural and multilingual, celebrating diversity through elections.

India’s Recent Elections

PM Modi spoke about the recent general elections in India, where over 650 million people voted. He praised the efficiency of India’s electoral system, noting that the results were declared within a few hours. He also mentioned that more than 8000 candidates from hundreds of political parties participated in the elections.

Gratitude for Re-Election

PM Modi expressed gratitude towards the public for re-electing his government for a third consecutive term, a rare achievement in India’s history. He stated that this decision is proof that India desires stability and continuity, especially in the post-COVID era.
