Prime Minister Narendra Modi Visits Russia and Austria to Strengthen Ties
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day official visit to Russia for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit. During his visit, he will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and meet President Vladimir Putin to discuss various aspects of bilateral cooperation, including energy, security, trade, and more.
PM Modi expressed his excitement about the visit, stating, “Over the next three days, will be in Russia and Austria. These visits will be a wonderful opportunity to deepen ties with these nations, with whom India has time-tested friendship. I also look forward to interacting with the Indian community living in these countries.”
After his visit to Russia, PM Modi will travel to Austria, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the nation in 40 years. He will meet President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer to discuss innovation, technology, and sustainable development. PM Modi will also interact with the Indian community in Austria.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted the importance of the annual summits, stating, “There was a bit of a delay in our annual summits, it is a good tradition, we are 2 countries which have a strong history of working together. We did value the need for an annual summit.”
President Putin will host PM Modi on Monday, and on Tuesday, the Prime Minister will attend a community event in Moscow.
