On November 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Jamui, Bihar, to unveil several development projects worth Rs 6,640 crore. These initiatives are part of the government’s commitment to improving the lives of tribal communities by enhancing infrastructure, providing training, and creating job opportunities.

Celebrating Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s 150th Birth Anniversary

The event marked the start of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda. PM Modi released a commemorative coin and postage stamp to honor the occasion.

Government’s Commitment to Tribal Welfare

PM Modi highlighted the launch of schemes like Dharti Aaba, Janjatiya Gram, and Utkarsh Abhiyan, aimed at transforming over 60,000 tribal villages. He emphasized the increase in the budget for tribal development from less than Rs 25,000 crore to Rs 1.25 lakh crore.

“About Rs 80,000 crore will be invested in tribal villages to provide necessary facilities and create training and employment opportunities for the youth,” said PM Modi.

Health and Heritage Initiatives

The Prime Minister also addressed health challenges like sickle cell anemia, with a national campaign screening 4.5 crore people. Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are being established to provide healthcare access to tribal families.

PM Modi acknowledged the tribal society’s contribution to India’s ancient medical system and efforts to preserve this heritage. He mentioned the PM Janman Yojana, a Rs 24,000 crore scheme for the development of the most backward tribes.

Preserving Tribal Culture

The BJP government has taken steps to honor tribal art and culture, including the establishment of a museum in Ranchi dedicated to Birsa Munda. PM Modi expressed pride in making Droupadi Murmu the first tribal President of India.

Janjatiya Gaurav Divas Celebrations

During the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas celebrations, PM Modi paid tribute to Birsa Munda, participated in traditional dances, and played a dhol. He was warmly welcomed and honored with an idol of Birsa Munda.
