Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Launch Major Projects in Mumbai Worth Rs 29,400 Crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mumbai on Saturday to launch and dedicate various projects worth around Rs 29,400 crore. At 5:30 PM, he will arrive at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon to launch multiple projects related to roads, railways, and ports.

At 7 PM, he will visit the Indian News Service (INS) Secretariat at G-Block, Bandra Kurla Complex, to inaugurate the INS Towers. This new building will provide modern office space for the newspaper industry in Mumbai.

Key Projects

Thane Borivali Tunnel Project

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Thane Borivali Tunnel Project, worth Rs 16,600 crore. This 11.8 km twin-tube tunnel will pass below Sanjay Gandhi National Park, reducing the journey from Thane to Borivali by 12 km and saving about 1 hour in travel time.

Goregaon Mulund Link Road (GMLR) Project

He will also lay the foundation stone for the GMLR Project, worth over Rs 6,300 crore. This 6.65 km road will connect Western Express Highway at Goregaon to Eastern Express Highway at Mulund, providing direct connectivity to the new proposed airport at Navi Mumbai and Pune Mumbai Expressway.

Kalyan Yard Remodelling and Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Kalyan Yard Remodelling and Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal at Turbhe in Navi Mumbai. The remodelling will increase the yard’s capacity to handle more trains, reducing congestion and improving efficiency. The cargo terminal will provide additional employment opportunities and handle commodities like cement.

New Platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus

He will dedicate new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and extend platforms 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station. These improvements will accommodate longer trains and increase passenger capacity.

Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana

Lastly, the Prime Minister will launch the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana, an internship program with an outlay of around Rs 5600 crore. This program aims to address youth unemployment by providing skill enhancement and industry exposure for youth aged 18 to 30 years.
